Additional meetings may be called at the discretion of the Public Transit Advisory Board to discuss key issues. Committee meetings may be called as deemed necessary by each committee's members.

The PTAB membership consists of one voting member from:

  • Each locality that receives transit services from FREDericksburg Regional Transit (FRED), namely the City of Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania County, Caroline County, and Stafford County; the Fredericksburg Area Chamber of Commerce;
  • Any private Partner contributing $25,000 or more to FRED per year in cash or in kind, which as of January 2013, included Mary Washington Healthcare, the University of Mary Washington, Germanna Community College, the Star Radio Group, and The Free Lance-Star; the George Washington Regional Commission; the disAbility Resource Center; citizen representatives.

All members shall serve at the pleasure of the City Council.

Partner Input

The purpose of the Public Transit Advisory Board (PTAB) shall be to provide citizen and private and public partner input on the public transit needs of the city and the region; to evaluate the operational and financial performance of the region's public transit system; and to advise the City Council on any public transit issues that the PTAB considers appropriate for City Council consideration.
