Task Force Short History
The Riverfront Task Force was authorized by City Council in January 2007 and Council assigned the Task Force the following objectives:
- With community input, define the park's identity and what it should become.
- Coordinate community input into the design of the riverfront park.
- With city staff and consultants, develop design for the entire riverfront park.
- Produce a Riverfront Park Development Plan.
- Act as the coordinating link between Phase 1 and subsequent phases of riverfront park development.

- Clean and Green Commission – one member
- Arts Commission – one member
- Economic Development Authority (EDA) – one member
- Friends of the Rappahannock (FOR) – one member
- Historic Fredericksburg Foundation (HFFI) – one member
- Downtown Merchants Marketing Initiative (DRMI) – one member
- Neighborhood Associations – two members
- Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site) – one member
