The Department of Finance performs all financial functions (except tax assessments and treasury functions) including centralized accounting, centralized processing of pay roll, accounts payable, and fiscal administration of city enterprises.

ANNUAL COMPREHENSIVE FINANCIAL REPORT 

All state and local governments are required by the state to publish a complete set of financial statements, showing conformity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and audited by a firm of licensed certified public accountants. The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) is a thorough and detailed presentation of the City’s financial condition. The City’s ACFR reflects activities and balances, evidencing the spirit of transparency and full disclosure.

CITY BUDGET

The annual budget for the City of Fredericksburg is prepared by the Finance Department and the City Manager’s Office for City Council review and adoption.

The Procurement Office is responsible for the acquisition of all goods and services, including professional services and construction for the City of Fredericksburg. The Sophia Street Parking Garage (600 Sophia Street), located at the corner of Sophia and Wolfe Street, provides 297 parking spaces in historic downtown Fredericksburg. It is within easy walking distance of key downtown points such as the train station, visitor’s center, and courts. Many shops and fine restaurants are just a block away.
