The Public Information Office is responsible for keeping the community informed about crime and other police-related events that occur in the City of Fredericksburg. Transparency is essential in today’s fast-paced society and the Public Information Office is committed to providing accurate information about ongoing investigations in a timely manner and utilizes social media as well as traditional media to inform the community.
The Public Information Office is also responsible for all external documents which include but are not limited to news releases, annual reports, flyers, videos, and announcements. It is also responsible for compiling a daily crime report, which notes arrests and significant incidents that are of interest to the public and media. These reports are posted Monday through Friday, with the exception of major holidays. They do not represent the total number of calls or incidents that are handled daily by the Fredericksburg Police Department.
