Our office serves the citizens of the City of Fredericksburg and the Commonwealth of Virginia to provide fair and honest elections in accordance with the Code of Virginia by providing easy and readily available access to registration and casting of votes within election laws and guidelines.

March 3, 2020 Democratic Party Presidential Primary Election

Democratic Party Primary Elections for President

  • Thursday, January 16 Absentee Voting begins in the Registrar's office
  • Monday, February 10 Last day to register/update registration and vote in March 3 election
  • Tuesday, February 25 Last day to request an absentee ballot be mailed to you for the March 3 election
  • Saturday, February 29 8:30am-4:30pm In-Person absentee voting in the Registrar's office for March 3 election
  • Tuesday, March 3 Election Day Polls will be open from 6:00am-7:00pm
  • SAMPLE BALLOTS WILL APPEAR HERE FOR THE MARCH 3 ELECTION WHEN AVAILABLE

May 5, 2020 Local General Election 

Deadline for local candidate qualification in accordance with Code of Virginia 24.2-507 is March 3, 2020 at 7:00p.m. Interested parties should review information on the Virginia Department of Elections website and on the Candidates and Campaigns webpage of this site.

Election for Mayor, At-large City Council, and At-large School Board 

  • Friday, March 20 Absentee Voting begins in the Registrar's office
  • Monday, April 13 Last day to register/update registration and vote in May 5 election
  • Tuesday, April 28 Last day to request an absentee ballot be mailed to you for the May 5 election
  • Saturday, May 2 8:30am-4:30pm In-Person absentee voting in the Registrar's office for the May 5 election
  • Tuesday, May 5 Election Day Polls will be open from 6:00am-7:00pm
  • SAMPLE BALLOTS WILL APPEAR HERE FOR THE MAY 5 ELECTION WHEN AVAILABLE

June 9, 2020 Primary Election

  • Saturday, October 24 8:30am-4:30pm Early voting in the Registrar's office
  • Monday-Saturday, October 26-October 31 8:30-am-4:30pm Early voting in the Registrar's office
  • Tuesday, November 3 Election Day Polls will be open from 6:00am-7:00pm
