The below information highlights particular items that citizens should be familiar with before attending court.

Attention Federal Employees

It has come to our attention there has been a change in policy regarding jury payouts. Please check with your employer prior to reporting for jury duty as we will not be able to reimburse you after the conclusion of each jury trial.


There is no designated court parking. If you show up early there are a few parking spots on the public streets that are available. You can also find a few parking spots in the public parking lots along Sophia Street and at the corner of George Street and Sophia Street. There are a few handicapped parking spaces in front of each court.

Dress Code

Appropriate dress required. No tank tops, shorts, shirts that expose the abdomen, and no offensive writing or pictures on the clothing.

Items Not Allowed

The following items are not allowed in court:

  • pagers, and cameras
  • Inappropriate clothing
  • Tape recorders
  • Knives, scissors, files, and razor blades
  • Firearms / ammunition
  • Tools
  • Pepper spray / mace
  • Backpacks
  • Glass containers
  • Food, drinks, or chewing gum
  • Newspaper
  • Lighters and matches

The Sheriff's Office and the Clerk's Office will not be responsible for or hold any cellular phones or any other property.

To avoid delay (and possibly miss your scheduled hearing), it is highly recommended that you check your pockets, brief cases, key rings, etc. to ensure that you have no objects with you that could conceivably be used as a weapon. Do not overlook items such as pens, knives, fingernail files, and clippers. You will not be allowed into the courtroom with them. Plan ahead; leave questionable objects at home or in your car.


Circuit Court is not responsible for providing court translators. Please notify the court ahead of time if a translator is needed.
