Libby Humphries


Elizabeth K. “Libby” Humphries is a trial attorney who has successfully prosecuted homicides, sexual assaults, and many other crimes in jury trials. She has extensive experience working with leadership teams and stakeholder groups at both the state and local level to ensure equal justice and best practices in the justice system. Prior to serving as Fredericksburg’s Commonwealth’s Attorney, Ms. Humphries worked in the office as the supervising prosecutor for prosecutions concerning domestic violence, child victims, and defendants under age eighteen. Ms. Humphries earned her law degree from the University of Virginia and her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College. Libby and her husband, Thad, live in Fredericksburgs Darbytown neighborhood and attend St. Georges Episcopal Church. 

When she isn’t fighting crime, Libby is an accomplished oboe player, an avid fiction reader, and a city trail walker.
