[ARCHIVED] Peaceful Gathering in Hurkamp Park

community-update-th

We are sharing an update on an event announcement that was circulated on social media earlier this week. We have confirmed that a gathering in Hurkamp Park is planned for Friday, September 4 in the late afternoon and event organizers have confirmed it to be a planned peaceful protest, correcting misinformation that appeared on social media platforms that caused concern and activated our communication efforts.

Freedom of Speech gatherings that stay on City sidewalks, use the crosswalks correctly and do not obstruct pedestrian right of way or vehicular traffic do not require a permit. Public safety is our top priority, and we want to assure our community that the Fredericksburg Police Department is aware of the event and will be present to ensure it remains lawful and peaceful.
