Beginning March 15, 2021, Spotsylvania County will temporarily change the primary disinfectant in their water treatment process from chloramines to free chlorine. The purpose of this temporary change in process, which occurs annually, is to help ensure a high level of disinfection in our community’s network of water mains. During this period, Spotsylvania County and the City of Fredericksburg water customers may notice a change in the taste or odor of their tap water. Spotsylvania County, will return to using chloramines on April 23, 2021.
Flushing will occur in the County and City on or about March 22, 2021, and continue through May 2021. Crews will work each day, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
