[ARCHIVED] The Solarize Virginia program continues through June 30th

solarize fredericksburg

June 6, 2022 - The Solarize Fredericksburg campaign continues through June 30th

Adding solar power to your home is easier and more affordable than ever, thanks to a program that reduces the cost and complexity of going solar by providing a one-stop shop for education and installation. This grassroots, community-based outreach initiative is managed by the Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP) and presented in partnership with the Fredericksburg Clean & Green Commission.

The Solar Income Tax Credit is dropping from 26% to 22% at the end of 2022, and the Solarize Fredericksburg campaign will help folks take advantage of this higher tax credit rate! This credit will reduce the price of Solarize Virginia’s already discounted residential solar installations by another 26%.

Through June 30th, homeowners and businesses can sign up to receive a free solar satellite assessment, and gain access to discounted prices and vetted installers. LEAP will provide ongoing customer support and education throughout the process to make the experience as streamlined as possible.

More information is available to all community members at SolarizeVA.org. Interested participants can also sign up to join an upcoming virtual information session. Registration is free and requires no commitment until you sign a contract with an installer.

April 14, 2022 - LEAP and the Fredericksburg Clean & Green Commission partner again on Solarize Fredericksburg to make residential solar more accessible to homeowners in the Fredericksburg area. www.solarizeva.org

Adding solar power to your home is easier and more affordable than ever, thanks to Solarize Virginia, a program that reduces the cost and complexity of going solar by providing a one-stop shop for education and installation. This grassroots, community-based outreach initiative is managed by the Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP) and presented in partnership with the Fredericksburg Clean & Green Commission. Through a competitive bidding process, LEAP has named Prospect Solar as their selected campaign installer for 2022.

The Solar Income Tax Credit is dropping from 26% to 22% at the end of 2022, and Solarize Virginia will help as many folks to take advantage of this higher rate as possible! This credit will reduce the price of Solarize Virginia’s already discounted residential solar installations by another 26%. We recommend that those interested in going solar sign up early to get their system installed by the end of the year.

Since 2014, 714 contracts have been signed through LEAP’s Solarize program across the state, generating more than 6.3 MW of solar capacity and over $17 million in value.

Through June 30, homeowners and businesses can sign up to receive a free solar satellite assessment, and gain access to discounted prices and vetted installers.

Chris Meyer, Executive Director, Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP) “We are excited to bring the Solarize Virginia program to the Fredericksburg area. Now, more than ever, homeowners and business owners are looking to solar as a sustainable energy source, and we are proud to partner with local officials to make solar accessible and affordable to all in Fredericksburg and surrounding areas.”

Robert Courtnage, Fredericksburg Clean & Green Commission

“This is our fifth campaign in Fredericksburg, and we are excited to partner again with LEAP to bring new solar opportunities to our region to move further towards independence from fossil fuels. This effort also supports the Fredericksburg City Council’s 2019 resolution to power municipal operations with 100% renewable energy by 2035 or earlier and a community-wide goal of no later than 2050.”

Wyatt Thorpe, Residential Sales Manager, Prospect Solar

“As a long-time supporter of the Solarize program dating back to 2014, Prospect Solar is absolutely thrilled to once again join the efforts for the 2022 Virginia campaign. As a local installation firm based out of Loudoun County since 2010, Prospect Solar is keenly aware of the challenges posed by the Virginia solar market and we applaud the efforts of LEAP to expand access to high quality, affordable solar energy systems to Virginia residents. We look forward to helping simplify the process of breaking free from the Utility and making this the most successful Solarize campaign to date!”
