[ARCHIVED] Storm Update #2

FXBG Storm Updates newsflash

Storm Update #2  - October 1, 2022  at 2pm

Storm update: Ian became a post tropical storm Friday afternoon and brought wind and rain ashore.  We seem to be in a little bit of a lull right now with the weather, but rains and winds are forecasted to make a return tomorrow through Tuesday.  It looks as though the system will blow out to sea by Tuesday and sunshine is expected to return to the area on Wednesday.  Please understand that there is still a minor threat for localized flooding during the rains, and we are continuing to monitor River Levels for the next few days.  Right now, winds are expected to remain constant in the 10-15mph range with gusts from time to time in the 20-30mph range (most likely during rain events tomorrow).

Virginia is still under a State of Emergency.

City’s parks: Old Mill Park has been closed to vehicular traffic, and the restrooms are currently closed. Porta potties have been removed from Old Mill Park and City Dock. Alum Spring Park and the Dog Park closed on Friday afternoon until further notice.

Special Events have been rescheduled: FAHAAS La Rumba in Fredericksburg is postponed until October 23. Power of Pink Walk is postponed until October 8. Art Attack is postponed until October 8. Chaos at the Quarry is postponed until October 8. Mental Health Awareness March is postponed until October 23. Fredtoberfest  is postponed until November 19.
