[ARCHIVED] Project Manger

This project is part of the Department’s Safe Sleep Campaign, which educates parents and caretakers on providing a safe sleep environment for babies. Suffocation is one of the leading causes of death for infants under the age of one years. Our Department assesses, educates and provides caretakers with the tools they need to provide a safe sleep environment.

As part of the campaign, the Department started a holiday project to raise money to buy portable cribs for families who can’t afford a safe sleeping place for their babies. Social workers have given more than 80 portable cribs to families in need, and the money to buy more is dwindling.

As part of Project Manger, the Department is collecting money for more portable cribs. The average cost of a portable crib is $60. To donate to the project, call Shannon Hartung at 540/372-1032, ext. 247 or email The Department is unable to accept used portable cribs, but welcome new ones.
