Posted on: June 7, 2018[ARCHIVED] Smoke Testing of Sanitary Sewer will take place in College Heights/Eagle Village
The smoke tests involve blowing harmless smoke into the sewer lines to locate storm drain cross connections and defects in the sewer system. As a result, smoke may be seen coming from roof vents, building foundations, catch basins, clean-outs, down spouts, sewer laterals, or manhole covers. The smoke is NON-TOXIC, NON-STAINING, WHITE TO GRAY IN COLOR, AND CREATES NO FIRE HAZARD.
The contractor performing the testing is Whitman, Requardt and Associates, LLP (WRA). All field personnel are uniformed and carry identification badges. The field crew will operate from vehicles with company signage.
The smoke used is a non-toxic substance that is harmless to humans, pets, food, and material items. If smoke does enter the building, it will clear in a few minutes with proper ventilation.
If you detect smoke in your home or business, please notify the WRA smoke testing field crew at (757) 377-1089.
