Who can register to vote in the City of Fredericksburg?: If you are a U.S. citizen, your home is in the City of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and you are age 18 or older; you can register to vote. If you are age 17 and will be 18 by the next general election, you can register when you are 17. 2. What should I do if I move?: You must update your registration by submitting another voter registration application.

3. What should I do if my name has changed?: You must update your registration by submitting a new Voter Registration application.

4. What I.D. do I need to vote?: You must present a qualifying photo I.D., present your voter registration confirmation documents, or present a qualifying document which confirms your name and your current registration address (Utility Bill, bank statement, paycheck) when you vote. If you are unable to provide any of the aforementioned documents you must sign a Statement of Identity on Election Day, which will confirm your identity.

5. Do I have to register for each election?: No. However, if you have moved you must update your registration.

6. Can I use a P.O. Box as my address?: No. You must have a complete City of Fredericksburg street address in the section for resident address. The majority of residents of the City of Fredericksburg reside in zip code 22401. Spotsylvania and Stafford residents must register to vote in those jurisdictions. You may use a P. O. Box number for your mailing address in the section for mailing address.

8. What should I do if I have been convicted of a felony or judged to be mentally incompetent?: Convicted felons must request the restoration of their rights through the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
